Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - An offensive flurry that led to four first half goals was too much to handle for the Hood field hockey team, as the hosts dropped their Commonwealth Conference opener to the Albright College Lions 4-0.
Sarah Barr started the scoring 1:25 into the game when she struck a loose rebound into the back of the cage. She added her second goal at 21:14 to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
Barr had a chance to have three goals, but Blazer freshman keeper Jessica Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) made a beautiful diving save on a one-on-one opportunity at 17:45.
Sedgwick made her first career start and faced an onslaught of 39 shots, and made a career-high of 18 saves. She added another diving stop on a second breakaway opportunity by the Lions in the first half as well.
Hood looks to bounce back in the last non-conference game of the season against Wilson College at Thomas Athletic Field on October 1.
