Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Three second half goals were too much to overcome as Hood dropped a 4-2 decision to Catholic this afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
After the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute, the Blazers tallied two quick goals in just over three minutes to take a 2-1 advantage into the half.
Freshman Alexis Andrukat scored the first goal of the season for the team in the 36th minute, after a rebound off of a Samantha Norris free kick found her foot in the six-yard box. In the 39th minute a nice feed from Sarah Marcello allowed sophomore Brooke Cipolla to break in alone on the keeper and fired a shot from inside the 18-yard box that found the far left corner of the net.
The lead lasted until the 61st minute when a deflected ball found Alexis Garcia, who placed the ball into the far corner. An own goal by the Blazers made it 3-2, when an attempted clear got headed into the net, at 67:08. Alyssa Fiore ended the scoring 43 seconds later.
Hood goalkeeper Leah Norris faced 21 shots, while making seven saves in the effort.
The Blazers will next travel to Juniata on September 7, when they will battle the Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
