Arcadia Outlasts Hood in Season Opener

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College jumped ahead 2-0 before Commonwealth Conference rival Arcadia came back for a 3-2 win in the Blazers' season opener.

Hood claimed the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-22, before the Knights got on the board with a 25-21 win in set three. Arcadia then forced a fifth set with a 25-22 win in set four and took the decisive fifth set 15-11.

The setting of Kathryn Jones powered the Blazer attack. Her 35 assists tied for the fifth most in a single match in school history.

Amy Hagerdon was on the receiving end of 11 of Jones assists to lead the team in kills. Hagerdon also had two aces and two blocks in the match for 14 points. The senior's 25 digs tied for the match-high.

Haley Rogers had nine kills and a block. Erin Botker served up four aces. Morgan Huffer notched 14 digs and two aces. 

Natalie Cadmus led all players with 19 kills for Arcadia. Alexia Bell had 40 assists.

Hood hosts McDaniel on September 6 at 7 p.m.
