DALLAS, Pa. - Despite two wins apiece from the trio of Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana), Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts), and Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding), Hood College fell at Misericordia 145-117 in men's swimming action.
Bodine captured victories in both the butterfly events. He swam a 2:06.47 in the 200-yard fly, touching the wall just 0.23 ahead of the runner up. In the 100 fly, he won by nearly three seconds with his time of 53.45.
Gardner was a winner both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events. His time of 56.13 claimed the win in the 100 back before his winning time of 2:02.91 in the 200 back.
Rogers continued his dominance of the distance freestyle events with victories in the 500- and 1,000-yard events. His day started with a time of 10:18.57 in the 1,000 free and he added a 4:59.56 for the win in the 500 free.
Victor Muleki (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) won the 50-yard free for the first time with his time of 23.05.
In the breaststroke events, BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) netted Hood a pair of second place finishes. The freshman swam a runner up time of 1:02.28 in the 100-yard breast and finished the 200 breast in 2:21.88.
Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic), Lucas Mestas-Nunez (Corpus Christi, Texas / Bluff), Jonathan Bullard-Sisken (Silver Spring, Md. / Montgomery Blair), Alessio Mario (Mullica Hill, N.J. / Clearview Regional), Bodine and Daisey each had a third place finish on the afternoon.
Curry swam a time of 10:44.88 for third in the 1,000 free. Mestas-Nunez was the Blazers' top finisher in the 200 free with his time of 1:58.17. Bullard-Sisken turned in a time of 1:03.90 in the 100 back. In the 100 free, Bodine's time of 51.87 made the junior Hood's top performer. Mario was third in the 100 fly with a time of 59.38. Daisey's 2:08.88 in the 200-yard individual medley was good for third place and made him the Blazers' first finisher in the event.
Hood fell to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Misericordia improved to 5-5, and 5-0 in the MAC.
The Blazers travel to Lebanon Valley on February 1 for their final tune up before the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.
