Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Addie Roop (New Windsor, Md. / Francis Scott Key) and Allie Donoghue (Owings, Md. / Bishop McNamara) tallied six service aces each, leading the Blazers to a 3-0 victory over Trinity Washington.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-15, and 25-10.
The teams were tied 6-6 to start the first set before two errors by the Lions gave the Blazers the lead. Donoghue's five aces during a seven-point run for Hood, giving them 15-7 lead. Two more aces by Kari Betson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) finished out the first set, 25-13.
Two Gabriela Enriquez (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) kills started the scoring for the Blazers in the second set. Trinity tied the score 9-9 with an ace, but a kill by Hayley Rogers ignited a 6-0 run that built a 16-10 lead. A kill by Molly Kelly (Frederick, Md. / St. John's Catholic Prep) and an ace from Brenna Elizondo (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage) claimed the set 25-15.
The Blazers opened the third set with a 14-1 run, fueled by three aces by Roop, and two kills apiece by Ashley Park-Brouse (Myersville, Md. / Middletown) and Enriquez. Multiple errors by the Lions and a final kill by Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) sealed the match 25-10.
Elizondo finished the game with 12 assists and Jones added seven. Keesha Fields (Willow Hill, Pa. / Fannett-Metal) had 12 digs to become the seventh player in school history with 300 digs in a season. Enriquez tied her career-high with eight kills and Roop had seven.
Sarai Burnett led Trinity with eight kills and Brittany Wilkerson had 12 digs.
Before the match, Hood honored seniors Donoghue, Fields, Park-Brouse, Rogers, Roop and Erin Botker for their contributions to the team.
The Blazers round out their season on Ocober 30 with a match against Alvernia.
