Frederick, Md. - Hood College's Hayley Rogers (Sandwich, Ill. / Brunswick (Md.)) tallied 14 kills, but the Blazers fell 3-1 to Alvernia in the season finale.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-23 and 25-18.

The Blazers tied the score 14-14 in the first set after three kills from Rogers, but Alvernia claimed the set 25-17 after a six-point run. 

Hood rallied in the second set, jumping to a 6-0 lead after two kills by Kari Betson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) and one from Ashley Park-Brouse (Myersville, Md. / Middletown). The Blazers went on another run of five points with kills from Elizabeth Hawkesworth (Westminster Md. / Winters Mill), Rogers and Addie Roop (New Windsor, Md. / Francis Scott Key) for a 17-8 lead. Hood notched the second set 25-16 after an error by Alvernia and a kill by Rogers.

The Blazers had an early run in the third set after Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) had back-to-back aces for a 6-3 lead.  Two errors by the Crusaders gave Hood a 23-20 lead late in the set, but a final five-point run by Alvernia claimed the set.

The fourth set started strong for the Crusaders, but kills from Hawkesworth, Betson and and Park-Brouse tied the score 7-7. Alvernia pulled ahead for the remainder of the set before notching the game 25-18.

Rogers led the team with 14 kills, with only one error out of 25 attempts for a hitting percentage of .520. Betson added 13 kills and Keesha Fields (Willow Hill, Pa. / Fannett-Metal) had 21 digs and three service aces. Jones also added three aces and 33 assists in the match.

Alvernia's Kristin Sipling led the team with 13 kills and Jamie Morris added 39 assists. 

Hood closes out the regular season with a record of 10-20.
