ANNVILLE, Pa. - In the regular season finale, Hood College returned to its winning ways, defeating Lebanon Valley College 157-99 in Middle Atlantic Conference swimming action. Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) led the way with three wins for the Blazers, with three others winning two races each.
Fogarty touched the wall first in the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:21.64 and 200 breaststroke in 2:54.64. Her final victory came in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:33.27. Caitlin Fay (Henrico, Va. / Mills E. Godwin) had two wins coming in the 100 backstroke (1:11.50) and the 400 freestyle (4:50.79).
Ashley Griffin (Littlestown, Pa. / Delone Catholic) recorded a pair of victories as well, in the 200 freestyle and the 100 free. Griffin outswam the field by five seconds in the 200, finishing in a time of 2:17.27. She snuck out the win by 0.32 in the 100, touching the wall in 1:01.65. Shannon McHale (Hauppauge, N.Y. / Hauppauge) also added two firsts in the 200 backstroke (2:35.88) and 100 butterfly (1:12.04).
Daniela Mittelkamp (Parkville, Md. / Catholic) won the 200 butterfly in 3:11.55, and placed third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:26.54.
Fay added a second place finish to her day, swimming a 30.10 in the 50 freestyle. Anne Lessard (Natick, Mass. / Natick) finished second behind Fay in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:14.37.
Theresa Schwarzwalder (Columbia, Md. / Wilde Lake) added second and third place finishes in the 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke. In the 200, she finished second in 2:41.41, and she swam a time of 1:28.91 to place third in the 100. Brittany Whitham (Fort Collins, Colo. / Resurrection Christian) swam in the 800 freestlye and placed second with a time of 10:22.59. She had two third place finishes in the 200 free (2:22.93) and the 400 free (5:03.06).
In the 200 IM, Sydney Langer (Falls Church, Va. / Falls Church) placed second in a time of 2:47.62, and she just missed second place by 0.3 in the 200 breaststroke (3:09.31).
Lindsay Cronin (Arlington, Va. / Washington & Lee) and Hayley Rogers (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) added third place finishes in the 800 free and 100 free, respectively. Cronin swam a time of 10:37.36, and Rogers finished in 1:06.50.
The 200 freestlye relay team of Rogers, Schwarzwalder, Griffin, and Lessard beat out the Dutchmen team for the win in 1:57.59.
The Blazers return to action from Febuary 13-16 for the MAC Championships in York, Pa.
