Box Score 2 MONT ALTO, Pa. - The Hood College softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Penn State Mont Alto, winning 5-3 and 8-0 in five innings.
The victories improved the Blazers to 13-6, including 12 wins in the team's last 14 games. PSU Mont Alto dropped to 1-3.

Hood rallied for four runs with two outs in the first to take control in the opener.
Ashley Fourcade (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) started the rally with a two-out double and Jess Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) walked to put runners on first and second. Katie Jenkins (Duncannon, Pa. / Susquenita) singled in a run before Roo Saglimbeni (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) hit her second home run of the year, a three-run shot, to make it 4-0.
The Lions got one run back in the bottom of the first to make it a three-run game. In the third inning, Saglimbeni singled and scored on a two-out base hit by Jackie Wenzel (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven) for a 5-1 lead.
Single runs in the fifth and seventh pulled Mont Alto within two runs.
Saglimbeni notched a career-high with three hits and reached base in all four of her plate appearances.
Carly Farr (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) doubled twice in four at bats.
Keerstie Robinson picked up the win with a complete game inside the circle. She allowed three runs on seven hits, struck out three, and walked three.

The Blazers produced another four-run first inning, which was more than enough for Jennifer Rutherford (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville), who tossed a three-hit shutout.
Amy Hagerdon (Berryville, Va. / Clarke County) led off the game with a double and scored on a single by Sedgwick to start the scoring. Melissa Canulli (Hummelstown, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) drove in the other three runs with a bases loaded, two-out double that scored Farr, Sedgwick, and Saglimbeni.
Wenzel drove in two runs with a single in the third to make it 6-0 after Sedgwick and Jenkins touched home.
Sedgwick stayed in the middle of the things with two-run double in the fourth that knocked in Hagerdon and Farr.
Rutherford struck out four batters and walked a pair.
Sedgwick finished 2-for-2 with a walk and drove in three. Hagerdon had two hits and scored twice. Farr walked and was hit by a pitch.
