Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - A pair of big first innings by Lycoming proved too much to overcome as Hood fell 3-0 and 11-0 to the Warriors in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader.
With the losses, the Blazers drop to 13-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Lycoming sits at 10-9 and 3-5.

Caroline Lapano led off with a home run as part of a three-run first inning. Kristi Weaver added an RBI double and Dominique Thomas drove in a run on a ground out.
Hood's best chance came in the third when Cady Baer (Frederick, Md. / Catoctin) and Jackie Wenzel (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven) had back-to-back singles with one out. A passed ball allowed both runners to move up, but Weaver forced a pair of ground outs to get out of the jam.
Amy Hagerdon (Berryville, Va. / Clarke County) had a hit in the sixth inning.
After a rocky first inning, Keerstie Robinson (Windsor, Pa. / Northeastern) allowed just three hits and a walk over the next five innings. In the complete game loss, the sophomore was charged with three earned runs on six hits and two walks, and struck out two.
Weaver tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out four. At the plate, she was one of three Warriors with two hits, joining Lapano and Nikki Marianelli.
Lycoming 11, Hood 0 (5 innings)
Lycoming scored seven times in the first inning, which was more than enough as Lapano thew a one-hit shutout to complete the sweep.
Weaver and Ashley Burger had two-run doubles as part of the big first inning. Weaver added a three-run homer in the sixth and Thomas launched a solo shot in the same inning for the final run.
Ashley Fourcade (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) had a first inning single for Hood's only hit. Baer reached via a walk in the second inning.
All nine batters for Lycoming had a hit, including multi-hit efforts by Weaver and Thomas. Weaver drove in five runs in the game.
Lapano struck out three over five innings of shutout pitching.
Jennifer Rutherford (Phoenixville, Md. / Phoenixville) was charged with the loss, walking four and allowing 10 hits. Kristin Ganderton (Maple Glen, Pa. / Upper Dublin) pitched a scorelss third of an inning in relief.
The Blazers will look to get back in the win column against Alvernia on April 12.
