Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Hood College won the second set to tie its Commonwealth Conference opener, but Arcadia used a dominating performance in the third set to swing the momentum for a four-set victory.
After the Knights won the first set 25-15, the Blazers rebounded in set two. Betson broke a 4-4 tie with a kill and then served an ace for a two-point lead. An attack error by Arcadia and an Elizabeth Hawkesworth (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) kill gave the Blazers an 8-4 advantage. Hood stretched its lead to seven points on three occasions and won the set 25-18.
Arcadia responded in the third set by hitting 54 percent with 15 kills to win 25-9. The Knights sealed the victory with a 25-16 win in the decisive fourth set.
Hayley Rogers (Sandwich, Ill. / Brunswick (Md.)) led Hood with seven kills and nine points. The senior added a block and an ace to her evening. Hawkesworth had six kills and tied Ashley Park-Brouse (Myersville, Md. / Middletown) for the team-high with two blocks. Betson netted two aces to go with five kills. Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) dished out a season-high 19 assists. Keesha Fields (Willow Hill, Pa. / Fannett-Metal) recorded 14 digs.
Natalie Cadmus notched a match-high 18 kills for Arcadia, while Alexia Bell pitched in with 30 assists.
Hood is back in action on September 13 with a tri-match at Notre Dame (Md.) featuring New Jersey City.
