TOWSON, Md. - Hood College's Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) scored at the 63-minute mark to tie the game, then won the game with a goal in the second overtime to lift the Blazers to a 2-1 victory at Goucher.

It was Briscoe's third multi-goal game of the season and the fourth of her career.

During the second overtime, Jessica Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) stopped a shot by the Gophers' Lizzie Barminski in the 87th minute. Nearly four minutes later,  Ashley Griffin (Littlestown, Pa. / Delone Catholic) crossed the ball from the right side to a waiting Briscoe, who knocked home the game-winner midway through the 91st minute.

Neither team had a shot in the opening 13:50 of the match and the teams combined for just eight total shots during a scoreless first half.

There was only one shot in the first 11 minutes of the second half before Justine Ruhlin took an Emily Jewell pass and shot it into the left corner for a 1-0 lead at 46:06.

Briscoe tied the game 17 minutes later. The Gophers' goalkeeper charged a ball during a scramble in front of the cage, and Briscoe beat her to the ball and knocked it into the now empty goal for the tie.

Sedgwick made nine saves in the game. Demie Huffman stopped four shots for Goucher.

The Gophers outshot the Blazers 25-7, but Hood's defense held firm throughout the evening.

It was the first win for Hood against Goucher since the 2010 season.

The team's five wins are the most since the 2009 season and it is the fastest seven-match start on record for the Blazers.

Hood travels to Frostburg State on September 20.
