FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College dropped a Commonwealth Conference match to visiting Widener, 3-0. 

Set scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-21.

The Pride controlled the first set before the Blazers bounced back to take an early 10-7 lead in the second set after a service ace by Addie Roop (New Windsor, Md. / Francis Scott Key). A kill by Roop kept Hood in front 14-12, but three kills by Brooke Ruditys fueled a four-point run that put Widener ahead. The Blazers tied the score three times after that - all on kills by Kari Betson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) - but Widener was able hold on for the win.

Hood had a 16-15 lead in the third set before three straight kills by the Pride reclaimed the lead.

Hayley Rogers (Sandwich, Ill. / Brunswick (Md.)) and Elizabeth Hawkesworth (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) had seven kills apiece to lead the Blazers. Rogers paced the team with three blocks. Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) notched a team-high 19 assists. Keesha Fields (Willow Hill, Pa. / Fannett-Metal) led three Hood players in double figures with 21 digs. Roop added 12, while Betson had 11.

Ruditys had a match-high 15 kills. Jessica Dembeck netted 13. Sabrina Barbieri had a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs. Victoria Miller matched Fields for the match-high with 21 digs.

Hood is back in action on October 2 when Gallaudet visits BB&T Arena.
