Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Hood College's Chris Cook (Mechanicsville, Va. / Lee-Davis) had his tenth game of at least 20 points this season, but the team had a cold shooting night in a 78-57 loss at Arcadia.
The two teams entered the evening tied for second in the Commonwealth Conference with 5-3 league marks. With the loss, the Blazers fall into a tie for fourth with Alvernia, while the Knights and Stevenson remain tied for second.
Cook knocked down 8-of-14 field goals and went 3-of-6 from 3-point range on his way to 20 points.
BJ McHenry (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) had a career-high for the second straight game with eight points. The reserve freshman guard was 3-of-6 shooting and 2-of-4 from downtown. Luke Casey (Nanticoke, Pa. / Crestwood) had a team-high nine rebounds, tying his career-high. Sunjata Stills (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) saw his first career action and scored his first point to go along with a rebound, an assist, a steal and a block. Tanner Ruths (Stephens City, Va. / Sherando) added four assists.
In the first half, a Malik Harris (Columbia, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) three made the score 19-12 in favor of Arcadia with 7:54 left in the half. Torrell Candelaria had five points during a 10-0 run that stretched the Knights' lead to 29-12. Back-to-back 3-point field goals by Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School) and Cook cut into the lead with 2:26 left, but Hood trailed 31-20 at the half.
Candelaria made 3-pointers on three straight possessions to fuel a 15-3 run to open the second half.
He went 8-for-12 from the floor and was 6-of-10 behind the arc on his way to a game-high 22 points. Sean Mayberry came off the bench for 15 points and Ryan Kelley scored 13. John Landro dished out a game-high eight assists and had seven rebounds.
The Knights connected on 49 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range.
The Blazers committed just 11 turnovers in the game, while forcing Arcadia into 21.
Hood, 9-9 overall and 5-4 in Commonwealth play, returns to BB&T Arena to face Lebanon Valley on January 28.
