FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College defeated Misericordia for the first time in school history with 139-114 victory in a Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) and Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) both had two individual and two relay wins in the meet. Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) won a pair of individual events. Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) was a part of two winning relays and added one individual win. Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic) won an event individually and as part of a relay, and BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) swam on a winning relay.
The Blazers had their first top finish of the day in the 400-yard medley relay by teammates Gardner, Daisey, Bodine and Marier, with a time of 3:36.82.
Rogers remained undefeated in the distance freestyle events. He had his first win in the 1000 free, touching the wall at 11:09.01. In the 500 free he claimed the top spot with a time of 5:00.25, 18 seconds faster than the next swimmer.
Bodine scored his individual wins in the 50 fly (23.36) and the 100 fly (53.20). He later swam on the winning 400 free relay with Gardner, Curry and Marier (3:18.13).
In the 100 back, Gardner had the winning time of 53.87. He finished at 1:57.85 in the 200 back, for another first.
Marier claimed first in the 50 free at 22.02, and placed second 100 free with a time of 49.25.
With a time of 1:51.14 in the 200 free, Curry notched his second top finish on the day. He also placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:18.24.
Kenny Garced-Valle (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) finished the 1000 free in 13:40.46, good for second. Daisey had a second place finish in the 200 individual medley, turning in a time of 2:08.03. He also placed third in the 100 breast (1:01.57) and the 200 breast (2:18.28).
The win, Hood's second in a row, improved the Blazers to 6-5 overall and 5-4 against MAC opposition.
Hood wraps up the regular season on January 31, when it hosts Lebanon Valley for Senior Day at 2 p.m.
