ANVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Alexandra Dystant (Odenton, Md. / Arundel), Heather Silveira (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake) and Jackie Mangogna (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) each had second place finishes at the Dutchmen Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College.
Dystant finished second in the one mile with a time of 5:41.72 and claimed fifth place in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line at 2:35.82. Classmate Silveira notched her second place in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.26 and placed fourth in the 500 meter at 1:26.81.
Mangogna claimed her second place in the pentathlon with 2303 points. The freshman had the top scores in two events, the 55 hurdles with 621 points (9.77) and the long jump with 456 points (15-1 1/2, 4.61 meters). Andrea Christmas (Germantown, Md. / Northwest) took fourth place with 1818 points. Karina Stetsyuk (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) had 1222 points, good for sixth.
Samantha Bailey (Shelton, Conn. / Shelton) had a fourth place finish in the shot put, throwing 36-5 3/4 (11.12 meters). The freshman also had an eigth place finish in the weight throw with 30-9 3/4 (9.39m)
Miranda Sly (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) finished with a time of 13:18.35 in the 3000 meter, placing 10th.
The Blazers compete at the Ducharme Invitational on February 7.
