Women's Soccer Falls to Stevenson

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's soccer team fell to Stevenson University in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action, 4-1

The Blazers lone goal came in the 89th minute when Alyssa Nubgaard (Poolesville, Md./ Poolesville) received a through ball from Sarah Marcello (Carlisle, Pa./ Boiling Springs) and deposited it in the bottom left corner of the goal.

Hood had another opportunity to score in the 88th minute, but Elien Comhaire's (New Market, Md./ Oakdale) shot was turned away by Sarah Turner.

Rachel Knoebel (Bel Air, Md./ C. Milton Wright) started in goal for Hood and recorded six saves.

The Mustangs opened up the scoring in the 30th minute when Allie Ondrejcak sent a corner into the box where Gabriela Young found Sam Hooker, who finished the ball into the right side of the net.

In the second half, Stevenson scored in the 52nd and 62nd minute on identical plays; corner kicks to the far post by Ondrejcak, with Kellen Wittman waiting to head them in. The Mustangs added their fourth goal of the contest when Taylor Venturino rebounded a blocked shot from Julia Webb and placed it into the top of the goal.

The Blazers look to get back into the win column on October 17 when they travel to Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Widener. The game is slated to start at 5 p.m.
