FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's soccer team fell to Alvernia 1-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

The two teams went back and forth for a scoreless first half before Johnna Shank headed a corner kick into the net in the 46th minute for the lone tally of the day.

Hood had two chances in the 76th and 83rd minute to tie the score, but both Elisa Botten (Gaithersburg, Md./ Poolesville) and Elien Comhaire (New Market, Md./ Oakdale) were turned away by Jessica Plunkett.

Rachel Knoebel (Bel Air, Md./ C. Milton Wright) started in goal for the Blazers and recorded six saves.

Hood looks to get back in the win column Saturday, October 24 when they travel to Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference opponent Lycoming. The game is slated to start at 11 a.m.
