Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Hood College men's soccer team nearly erased a three-goal deficit in the final four minutes and 11 seconds, but came up just short in a 3-2 loss at Lebanon Valley.
The Dutchmen took a 3-0 lead in the 82nd minute, but Hood bounced back. In the 86th minute, Drew Demich (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) took a free kick and scored his NCAA-leading 22nd goal of the year to cut the Blazers' deficit to two. With three points in the contest, Demich tied Thomas Noonan (2004-07) for the school record with 79 career points.
Midway through the 90th minute - at 89:26 - Demich set up an Alec van Bronkhorst (Gaithersburg, Md. / Watkins Mill) goal that pulled Hood within 3-2. The Blazers regained possession for one final chance, but a shot by Juliano Pillari (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) was blocked by the Lebanon Valley defense with just seven seconds to play.
Joe Centeno (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) made five saves for Hood.
Matt Prince put the Dutchmen ahead 25 minutes into the match. Late in the 38th minute, Austin Freeman picked up the first of his two assists with a feed to Ian McGinnis. Curtis Washburn was the beneficiary of Freeman's second assist, with gave LVC a 3-0 advantage.
Cam Avery made nine saves, but was removed after Demich's goal in favor of Matt Blanke.
Hood outshot Lebanon Valley 24-15 in the contest.
The Blazers host Arcadia for Senior Day on October 31 at 3:30 p.m.
