Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's soccer team dropped its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opener against No. 1 Messiah 5-0.
Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md./ Smithsburg) started the game in goal for the Blazers, recording two saves in 32 minutes of play. Rachel Knoebel (Bel Air, Md./ C. Milton Wright) played the next 45 minutes, adding nine stops. Leah Norris (Bryans Road, Md./ Lackey) finished the game in goal for Hood, tallying two saves.
The Falcons took the lead early, scoring in the eighth minute on a header by Holly Burgard. Messiah was took a two goal lead when Kyele Bridel scored in the 20th minute. Lydia Eichorn scored the third goal of the half for the Falcons in the 32nd minute.
Erin Sollenberger and Kate Shults each added second half goals to seal the game for Messiah.
The Blazers look to get back in the win column on October 7 as they travel to Goucher. The match is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
