FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's swim team remained undefeated with a 126-78 win over Lycoming in a Middle Atlantic Conference dual meet.
It is the first 5-0 start for the Blazers in school history.
Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) and Dillon Marier (Dover, Del. / Dover) both won twice on the day as Hood won eight of the 11 events.
Rogers remained undefeated in dual, tri- and quad-meets in the distance freestyle events since midway through his freshman season. The junior had his 14th straight win in the 1,000 with a time of 10:56.91. In the 500, he won for the 15th consecutive time in 5:03.78. Max Riedel (Adamstown, Md. / Homeschool) was second in both events with times of 11:06.54 and 5:13.19, respectively. Matt Ball (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) gave Hood the top three finishers in the 500 with his 5:14.97.
While Rogers handled the distance events, Marier took care of the sprints. The sophomore won the 50 free in 21.96 and the 100 in 49.21. Teammate Ernesto Evans was second in the 50 with a time of 22.61.
Michael Curry (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic) led a trio of Blazers to a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free. Curry had the winning time of 1:54.10. Rogers was less than a second behind in 1:54.96 and Riedel was third in 1:59.50.
Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:05.02. He was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.09.
BJ Daisey (Lewes, Del. / Sussex Tech) picked up a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:03.26. He and Ball finished second and third in the 100-yard butterfly, respectively. Daisey swam a time of 57.07, with Ball turning in a 58.49.
Hood finished the meet with a win in the 200 free relay. Curry, Ball, Alexander Stauff (Dover, Del.) and Evans combined to swim a 1:35.21 for the win.
The Blazers look to continue their winning ways in a quad at Messiah with Widener and FDU-Florham on November 7.
