TOWSON, Md. - The Hood College women's soccer team fell to Goucher College 1-0 in non-conference play.

Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md./ Smithsburg) started in goal for the Blazers and recorded seven saves.

The Gophers took the lead in the 69th minute when Camryn Mackey sent the ball into the box where Brooke Merchant scored on a header..

Hood had chances to tie the game after Goucher's tally. In the 80th minute, Jill Heymann (Hackettstown, N.J./ Warren Hills Regional) took a shot on net, but Julianna Harkavy made the save.

During the 89th minute, the Blazers made three shots on goal in a 14 second span, but Jessie Herbert (Sykesville, Md./ Century), Carley Pappas (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./ Egg Harbor Township) and Whitney Onheiser (Westminster, Md./ South Carroll) were all tuned away consecutively by Harkavy.

Harkavy finished the match with six saves.

Hood looks to get back in the win column October 10 as they travel to Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Albright. The game is slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
