Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College volleyball team fell to McDaniel 3-0 in non-conference action.
Set scores were 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.
The loss snapped Hood's seven game win streak.
Elena Young (Hagerstown, Md./ South Hagerstown) led the Blazers with nine kills, while tallying three blocks.
Payton Belella (Smithsburg, Md./ Smithsburg) had 21 assists on the day. Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y./ Newfane) and Kari Betson (Frederick, Md./ Frederick) each recorded eight digs in the match.
The first set started neck-and-neck 8-7 in favor of McDaniel, when the Green Terror went on a 12-6 run to lead 20-13 en route to winning the set.
The second set was nearly identical to the first, the Blazers and McDaniel battled back and forth until McDaniel broke out for an 11-4 run to take a 18-10 set lead. McDaniel took the lead early in the third and decisive set and never looked back, opening the set 17-6.
The Green Terror were lead by Kloe Martin, who recorded 13 kills and added 12 digs. Sarah Donnelly added 13 assists for McDaniel, one more than teammate Colette Kellen. Taylor Bauman added 14 digs.
The Blazers look to get back in the win column October 10 as they travel to Stevenson for a tri-match against the Mustangs and the Warriors. The meet is slated to start at 11 a.m.
