FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team fell in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action to Widener, 71-44.

The Blazers were led by Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa./ Susquehanna Township) who scored 10 points. Jasmine Webster (Warrenton, Va./ Kettle Run) added nine points on 3-of-8 3-point shooting in 11 minutes off the bench. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) led the team with 11 rebounds. Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) had four assists and Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) added four steals.

The Pride started out the game hot and never looked back, ending the first quarter or play ahead 22-3.

Widener was led by Brianna Wylie, who scored 16 points, tallied eight rebounds and grabbed four steals. Julia Venturelli added 13 points. Ally Ferrucci dished out seven assists.

Hood's defense continued to force turnovers, as the Pride committed 27 in the contest. Widener overcame the sloppy play by shooting 68 percent in the first half and 54 percent in the game.

The Blazers look to get back in the win column Wednesday, December 9 as they host Washington College. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at BB&T Arena.
