Box Score FREDERICK, Md - Hood College's Rachel Wiley (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) had a career-high in points and tallied her 12th double-double of the season in a 68-62 victory over Widener.
The senior had 19 points and 16 rebounds, and added three blocks. Rachel Kessler (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) had 12 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Blazers. Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) notched 10 points and six rebounds. Brittney George (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) came off the bench to tie her season-high of nine points. Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) also added nine points and had a team-high three assists.
Hood battled back and forth with the Pride through the first half, tying the score seven times in the opening 15 minutes. Hood pulled ahead 15-13 after a free throw from Delerme with 11:50 to go, but a Pride jump shot evened the score, 15-15, with 11:41 remaining.
Kessler sank a free throw with 7:17 left to play, starting a 12-7 run that pulled the Blazers to a 31-27 lead at the half.
In the second half, a jump shot from Briscoe and a layup by Kessler finished a 12-6 run to pull the Blazers ahead with 15:30 remaining, 43-33.
Three 3-point field goals in a 17-8 run pulled the Pride within one point of the Blazers (51-50) with 9:23 on the clock.
A layup from Widener tied the score 62-62 with 2:39 to go. With eight seconds on the clock, Kessler sank two free throws to end a final six-point run, claiming the game, 68-62.
Allison Gallagher led the Pride with 16 points, five assists and three steals. Aly Ferrucci notched 13 points and three assists. Brianna Wylie had 11 rebounds and two blocks. Courtney Colella had nine points and seven rebounds as a reserve.
Hood edged the Pride in rebounds, 48-43. The Blazers topped Widener on the foul line, shooting 64 percent to their 40 percent.
The Blazers travel to Stevenson on February 14 for conference play.
