Reading, Pa. - Hood College swept the 55-meter hurdles and won six total events at the Albright Invitational, more than any other team in competition.
The Blazers got victories from Samantha Bailey (Shelton, Conn. / Shelton), Jackie Mangogna (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park), Jill Heymann (Hackettstown, N.J. / Warren Hills), Heather Silveira (Baltimore, Md. / Chesapeake), Alexandra Dystant (Odenton, Md. / Arundel), and a first place from the 4x440 relay team.
Bailey notched a win in the shot put with a throw of 35-8 1/2 (10.88 meters).
Mangogna took first in the long jump at 15-2 (4.62m).
Heymann claimed her top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 30-9 (9.37m).
Silveira took first in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.68. Heymann and Mangogna placed second and third finishing at 9.97 and 9.98, respectively. Silveira finished second in the 400m, crossing the finish line at 65.61.
Dystant ran a time of 11:25.67 for a first place finish in the 3000-meter run.
Hood's team of Silveira, Mangogna, Andrea Christmas (Germantown, Md. / Northwest), and Dystant ran a time of 4:46.0 in the 4x440 relay and notched the final win of the day.
Christmas tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 8-2 (2.49m).
The six event titles were the most among the eight participating teams. No other team won more than two events on the day.
Hood travels to Morgantown, West Virginia on February 20 for the WVU Blue & Gold Classic.
