CARLISLE, Pa. Hood College's Heather Silveira (Baltimore Md. / Chesapeake) won the 55 meter hurdles in school record time, and Samantha Bailey (Shelton, Conn. / Shelton) won the shot put to lead the Blazers at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson College.
Silveira also had a second, third and eighth place finish on the day. She won the 55m hurdles, setting a school record in the final with a time of 9.01. Silveira took third in the 400 meter dash (63.71) and eighth in the 200m dash (29.59). She finished second in the 4x800 meter relay along with Alexandra Dystant (Odenton, Md. / Arundel), Miranda Sly (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) and Andrea Christmas (Germantown Md. / Northwest) with a time of 11:19.19.
Bailey won the women's shot put with a heave of 35-6 3/4 (10.84m).
Dystant had two second place finishes and a third place finish. She placed second in the 1000m run with a time of 3:10.72. The senior claimed third in the 800m, crossing the finish line at 2:29.12.
Jackie Mangogna (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) placed fifth in the preliminaires for the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.66 and finished fifth again in the finals, coming in at 9.78. She also took seventh in the long jump 15-3 1/2 (4.66m).
Hood finished fifth with a total of 55 points. Messiah took first place with 164 points.
The Blazers compete in the Crusader Invitational on February 14.
