Box Score GRANTHAM, Pa. - Hood College's Josh Gall (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) hit his third home run of the season as the Blazers dropped the deciding third game of their series with Messiah 15-11.
Gall continued his impressive season with the bat, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs on the day. Chris Shriver (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) led the team with three RBIs, going 2-for-5 from the plate.
After falling down 3-0 in the first inning, the Blazers bounced back with four runs of their own in the second. Shriver knocked in the first run of the day for the Blazers on a single, bringing home Gall. Nick Meyer (Knowlton, N.J. / North Warren Regional) followed him with a double, scoring Tyler Cook (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove) and Shriver. Meyer was later brought home by Cameron Esposito (Columbia, N.J. / North Warren Regional) on a fielders choice. Meyer finished with two RBIs on the day.
Hood would not get back onto the scoreboard until the fifth inning. The Falcons brought in two runs in the third and fourth innings making the score 7-4 in favor of the Falcons heading into the fifth. Gall started the scoring off in the fifth with a two-run homer. The Blazers would add two more in the inning on an error and a wild pitch.
While the Blazers took the lead back 8-7, it would not last long as the Falcons answered with a six-run bottom half of the inning to make the score 13-8.
The Falcons would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game, winning 15-11. Blazers reliever Blake Krisan (Mount Dora, Fla. / Mount Dora Bible) closed out the final two innings of the game giving up just one run.
Messiah was led by Kyle Shoen, who drove in four RBIs in the contest. Teammates Joseph Saufley and Jon Heisey each finished with three RBIs. Picking up the win for the Falcons was Brandon Shirk, who entered the game in relief and pitched 4.1 innings while giving up three runs.
Picking up the loss was Cameron Fitzgerald (Bowie, Md. / DeMatha Catholic).
The Blazers welcome Central Penn on April 15 for a doubleheader. The first game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the second to follow at 3:30 p.m.
