EMMITSBURG, Md. - Hood College's Jackie Mangogna (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) is in fourth place in the heptathlon after the first day of competition at the Mount Multis hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.
She leads the Blazers with 2160 points, just seven points off the pace of Hood's record set by Sophie Grizzle. Her time of 17.02 in the 100 meter hurdles earned 595 points, and a height of 4-10 1/4 (1.48m) in the high jump was 599 points. She ran a time of 28.61 in the 200m dash for 584 points. She threw the shot put 25-5 1/4 (7.75m), for 383 points.
Mariah Purtee (Libertytown, Md. / Linganore) placed sixth in the first day with 1592 points. She had the top finish in the shot put with a throw of 30-11 (9.42m) for 492 points.
Karina Stetsyuk (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) is in seventh place with 1147 points. She had her best score in the shot put with a throw of 24-11 1/2 (7.60m) for 374 points.
The competition at Mount St. Mary's wraps up on April 17.
