EMMITSBURG, Md. - Three members of the Hood College women's track and field team were in action on the second day of the Mount Multis.
Jackie Mangogna (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) led the Blazers' contingent with a two-day score of 3395 to finish fifth. Her best event of the three contested on the second day was the long jump. Mangogna's best leap travelled 15-11 (4.85 meters) to tally 519 points. She had three other events over 500 points, all on day one.
Mariah Purtee (Libertytown, Md. / Linganore) finished sixth with 2374 points. Her best event on the final day was the javelin, with a throw of 62-1 (18.97m).
Hood's third competitor was Karina Stetsyuk (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson), who claimed seventh in the final standings with 2265 points. Her 800-meter run of 2:57.05 was her highest scoring of the day, earning 393 points.
School-record holder Sophie Grizzle '14 competed unattached and finished fourth with 3608 points. On day two, she won the 800 with a time of 2:32.08 to score 667 points. She is a current assistant coach for the Blazers.
The full squad travels to the Mason-Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg College on April 18.
