Box Score 2 ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College dropped a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to Lebanon Valley, 4-1 and 6-5.
Sophia Leaman (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) went 5-for-7 at bat. Ashley Fourcade (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) had three hits in four at bats.
LEBANON VALLEY 4, HOOD 1
The Dutchmen took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. In the top of the fourth, Fourcade and Jess Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) both singled to get on base. A single by Kayli Paugh (Elkridge, Md. / Howard), loaded the bases and Alexa Rubano (Wallingford, Conn. / Lyman Hall) reached on a fielding error, allowing for Fourcade to score, 3-1.
Lebanon Valley added another run in the bottom of the sixth and clinched the win after a scoreless seventh from the Blazers, 4-1.
Leaman had three hits in four at bats and Sedgwick went 2-for-3. Paugh pitched a complete game, but took the loss. Haley Neff pitched all seven innings to take the win.
LEBANON VALLEY 6, HOOD 5
Hood took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Leaman hit a double to drive in Paugh. LVC tied the score 1-1 with an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth.
A four-run inning in the top of the fifth gave the Blazers a 5-1 lead. Fourcade doubled in the top of the fifth and Kristy Erfurdt (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) reached on an error allowing Fourcade to advance to third. Sedgwick singled to drive in a run, 2-0. Paugh was hit by a pitch and Kelsey Ritner (Barnegat, N.J. / Barnegat) singled to score Erfurdt. Kristen Scott (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) had a sacrifice fly to drive in Paugh. Leaman reached on a Dutchmen error and Ritner scored.
Lebanon Valley responded with a four-run inning to tie up the score again, 5-5, in the bottom of the fifth. The teams remained scoreless in the sixth, and LVC notched one run in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the win.
Paugh and Leaman were both 2-for-3 in the game and Fourcade went 2-for-4. Leaman pitched 6.2 inning, striking out five batters to take the loss.
Tesse Dearforff and Sammy Bost were both 3-for-4 at bat. Jasmine Dutton notched two RBIs. Neff got the win in relief, pitching three innings.
The Blazers close out the season with a non-conference doubleheader against Frostburg State on April 26.
