Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - The Hood College volleyball team fell in straight sets to Shenandoah, 3-0. Set scores were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-15.
Caroline Kinna (Frederick, Md. / Walkersville) led Hood with seven kills in her collegiate debut. Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) had 10 digs and nine assists. Elena Young (Hagerstown, Md. / South Hagerstown) added three blocks.
The Hornets led just 4-3 in the first set before pulling away thanks to a 6-0 run.
In the second set, Hood forced Shenandoah into early errors and built a 10-4 lead. The Hornets tied it at 13, but the Blazers scored the next three points for a 16-13 advantage. From there, Shenandoah closed out the set with a 12-4 run. Set three saw the Hornets take control early to seal the match.
Elizabeth Lamont, Rachel Roberts and Allie Pieper each had seven kills for SU. Lamont added five aces. Jasmine Callahan dished out 14 assists and Brandi Griffith had 10 digs.
Hood travels to the East. Mennonite Invitational on September 4-5 in Harrisonburg, Va.
