Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Jessie Herbert (Sykesville, Md. / Century) scored her 20th career goal as the Blazers won against Eastern Mennonite, 1-0.
Herbert became just the fourth Hood player to reach the plateau of 20 career goals.
The goal came during the match's opening minutes. Elien Comhaire (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) took a shot that rebounded to Herbert. The senior went high into the net over the Royals' keeper in the third minute.
The Blazers' defense stepped up and made the goal stand for the next 87 minutes to pick up Hood's first clean sheet of the year.
The young Hood defense limited Eastern Mennonite to just two shots in the contest. Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) made one save.
Becca Borg had seven saves for the Royals, including a diving stop on a header that prevented Herbert from scoring a second goal in the match.
The Blazers held a 21-2 advantage in shots.
The team wore teal jersey's in the contest to raise awareness for ovarian and cervical cancer.
