FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College had 14 blocks and limited Albright to a zero hitting percentage in a three-set win over the Lions in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-10, 25-14. 

While Albright struggled with its hitting all match, the Blazers hit .237 on the night. Elena Young (Hagerstown, Md. / South Hagerstown) continued her strong play with 12 kills and four blocks. Kathryn Jones (Newfane, N.Y. / Newfane) also had four blocks, and tallied five kills and no errors on 11 attempts. Courtney Hutchinson (Burtonsville, Md. / Blake) added nine kills and three blocks. Payton Belella (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) handed out 30 assists, and had 10 digs and three service aces. Kari Betson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) led the team with 16 digs, one more than Brenna Elizondo (Littleton, Colo. / Heritage).

Hood trailed 11-8 in the first set, but a kill by Jones sparked a 17-5 run for the Blazers to take the set. After controlling the second set, the Blazers held just a 9-7 lead in the third set before five kills by Young fueled a 16-7 run to put the match away.

Maddy Greth led Albright with nine kills. Claudia Guise had 16 assists and 11 digs. Becca Davis notched 18 digs.

Hood will look to stay in the win column when Penn State Harrisburg and Penn State Schuylkill visit for a tri-match on Saturday, September 26 at 11 a.m.
