Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Hood College freshman Elisa Botten (Gaithersburg, Md. / Poolesville) chose a good time to score her first career goal. The freshman found the back of the net in the 99th minute to give the Blazers a 2-1 overtime victory at Cedar Crest.
The Falcons took an early lead in the 15th minute when Kristen Spencer headed in a corner by Jackalyn Beckett.
Late in the 39th minute, Hood tied the score. Jessie Herbert (Sykesville, Md. / Century) scored unassisted off a set piece, shooting the ball to the left corner.
The score remained tied for an hour's worth of soccer, taking the match into overtime. Cedar Crest's keeper ventured out of net and Ashley Toy (Frederick, Md. / Tuscarora) played the ball ahead to Botten. She finished for the game-winner.
The assist was Toy's first in her career. Herbert's goal moved her into a tie for fifth place all-time at Hood with 18 goals and a tie for eighth with 37 points.
Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) stopped four shots in goal.
Shelby Szoke made 11 saves for Cedar Crest.
Hood outshot the Falcons 25-9, including 15-1 in the second half and overtime.
The Blazers will look to stay in the win column on September 9 with a match at McDaniel.
