Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College fell to visiting Albright in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action on Senior Day for the Blazers, 90-59.
Daniel Wegener (Falling Waters, W.Va. / Broadfording Christian (Md.)) led Hood with 16 points and nine rebounds. He was 4-of-7 shooting and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Jeffrey Monfort (Wicomico, Md. / Wicomico) came off the bench for seven points in eight minutes of work. Trevor Magnuski (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) had seven boards and Ian Eversull (Ijamsville, Md. / Urbana) blocked two shots.
Before the game, the Blazers honored senior Davon Hill (Clinton, Md. / Potomac School), along with assistant coaches Erik Thomas and Devin Hill, and injured senior Asa Smith (Cheltenham, Md. / Paul VI Catholic (Va.)).
The Blazers trailed just 21-19 after two free throws by Wegener with four minutes, 43 seconds left in the half. While both teams started slowly, the Lions caught fire down the stretch with a 22-3 run to make it 43-23 at the half.
Albright continued to extend its lead in the second half, putting the game out of reach.
Omari Ringgold scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 4-of-6 from 3-point range, for 21 points. DeJuan Smith tallied 14 points. Reserves Brandon LIndsay and Jared Rappaport had 20 and 10 points, respectively. Evan Ward grabbed eight rebounds and three blocks, while Jaylin Calloway had eight assists.
While Hood struggled with its shooting from the field, the Blazers took 34 trips to the free throw line, converting 25 (74 percent).
Despite missing two of their first three free throws, the Lions finished 20-of-23 at the charity stripe (87 percent).
Hood has a quick turnaround with a game at BB&T Arena against Arcadia on Monday, February 1 at 8 p.m.
