FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team fell to Lycoming in Middle Atlantic Conference women's basketball contest, 80-61.

Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) led the Blazers with a season-high 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting and had four steals. Taylor McGaughey (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) scored 13 points. Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) had four assists.

Lycoming scored the game's first seven points before the Hood mounted a comeback. A Smith layup cut it to 20-19. After a Warrior score, Briscoe put one in at the buzzer to make it 23-21 after the first period. In the second quarter, Lycoming stretched its lead to as many as 12, but a 3-point play by Allie Appleby (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) made it just 40-37 at halftime. 

A 12-2 fourth quarter run gave the Warriors a 66-49 lead and the Blazers never got closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Chelsea Henderson sank 10-of-14 field goals on her way to a game-high 25 points. Nicole Calella dished out seven assists. Olivia Manges and Shelby Schoonover added 12 points each. Haley Sipple had seven boards.
