Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood led at halftime, but the Stevenson's Sarah Tarbert scored 29 second half points as the Blazers fell 74-54 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.
Hood was led by Alexis Andrukat (Smithsburg, Md. / Smithsburg) with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Verkia Smith (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) netted 12 points, going 5-of-7 from the field. Arianna Delerme (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Twp.) and Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) each had six rebounds.
Stevenson's Tarbert finished with 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting, grabbed 14 rebounds. She added three steals and two blocks.
The Blazers trailed 15-12 after the first period, but limited the Mustangs to just six points in the second quarter. Hood held Stevenson to just 3-of-13 shooting and forced nine turnovers, allowing the Blazers to claim a 24-21 lead at halftime.
The Mustangs opened the third period with an 18-5 run, featuring 11 points from Tarbert, to take a 39-29 lead with five minutes and 23 seconds left in the quarter. Hood pulled within four on two occasions before the end of the third, including Smith's layup with 39 seconds left that made it 46-42 heading into the fourth. Stevenson opened the final period with an 11-0 run to put the game out of reach.
The Blazers limited the Mustangs to just 1-of-14 from 3-point range in the contest (7 percent). Hood went 4-of-11 (36 percent). Overall, Stevenson shot 27-of-57 from the field (47 percent), compared to just 34 percent for Hood.
Kaitlyn Vantash scored 13 points for Stevenson and Stephanie Martinez dished out seven assists.
Hood wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Widener.
