Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Hood College led through five innings of play, but a couple of late inning rallies helped Stevenson win 12-4 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.
Dylan Johnson (Newville, Pa. / Big Spring) was 3-for-4 for the Blazers. Chris Shriver (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) had an RBI double, while Cam Esposito (Columbia, N.J. / North Warren Regional) drove in a pair. Drake Friend (Gladwyne, Pa. / Harriton) finished 2-for-4, with Josh Gall (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) reaching base twice, via a hit and a walk.
Jake Franke (Lisbon, Md. / Glenelg) started and went 5.2 innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits. He struck out three and walked just one.
After the Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the first, Hood scored twice on a single by Esposito in the top fo the second. Johnson and Friend both scored on the play for a 2-1 lead.
Shriver doubled in Gall in the third, but Stevenson cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the inning. An RBI single by Friend drove in Quinn Fulton (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) to make it 4-2.
A pinch hit, three-run homer by Billy Small in the bottom of the sixth gave Stevenson a 5-4 lead. The Mustangs benefitted from three Blazer errors the next inning, opening the door for seven runs.
Kevin Wu was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kevin Kopas and Jake Dimon had two hits apiece.
Alec Romanowski pitched seven innings and allowed all four runs, three earned, to pick up the win. Reid Foxwell threw two perfect innings of relief.
The Blazers allowed just three earned runs in the game, but were undone by five errors.
The two teams meet again on Saturday, Mar. 26 in a doubleheader hosted by Hood.
