READING, Pa. - The Hood College softball team kept up its strong play in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth with a doubleheader sweep of Alvernia.

The Blazers won game one 7-3 and defeated the Crusaders 6-2 in the second game. Hood improved to 15-9 overall and 6-2 in the MAC Commonwealth. 

Kaylee Krietz (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) led off game one with a double to open the way to a five-run inning. Jasmine Webster (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) finished the scoring with a two-run home run. Kayli Paugh (Elkridge, Md. / Howard) struck out six in a complete game victory.

In game two, the Blazers scored twice in the first, but Alvernia battled back to tie the game. Hood pulled away with four late runs. Sophia Leaman (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) pitched a complete game and led the Blazers at the plate with a pair of doubles.
