Beth Laque (Berlin, Md. / Stephen Decatur) took the complete game loss.
GAME TWO: HOOD 5, CATHOLIC 2
The Blazers erased a 2-1 deficit with a three-run third inning to win the nightcap.
Leaman entered to pitch in the top of the third and kept the Cardinals off balance over the last five innings. She did not allow a hit and walked just two batters for her seventh victory of the year.
A two-run single by Rebecca Marks gave Catholic a lead in the top of the second, but Hood answered in the bottom of the frame. Shelby Alcorn (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) led off with a base hit and found herself on third base with one out. Katelyn Long (Bel Air, Md. / C. Milton Wright) sent a fly ball to right field, allowing Alcorn to scurry home and make it a 2-1 ballgame.
In the bottom of the third, Krietz led off with a base hit. Leaman hit into a fielder's choice, but the Cardinals mishandled the ball to put runners on first and second. After Erfurdt singled to load the bases, a wild pitch tied the game. Fourcade followed with a two run double for a 4-2 Hood lead.
The Blazers added an insurance run in the fifth. Leaman led off with a double. Erfurdt singled to center, but Catholic misplayed the ball, allowing Leaman to score.
Alcorn finished with two hits.
