ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood scored three times in the top of the seventh in game one and outlasted Lebanon Valley in extra innings in the second game to sweep the Dutchmen 8-7 and 5-2 in eight innings in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play. 

Drake Friend (Gladwyne, Pa. / Harriton) went a total of 5-for-6 in the two wins. He was 2-for-3 with a home run in the first game, then followed it up with a 3-for-3 effort in game two. Friend walked in each game. Brooks Warrenfeltz (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) had two multi-hit games, going 4-for-8 with a double. Josh Gall (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) doubled in both games and had three hits and three runs batted in in the opener. 

Nate Luscombe (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton) picked up his school-record fifth win of the season in game two, going seven innings and scattering five hits and three walks. He allowed just one run and striking out three. 

Hood finishes the year 16-24 overall and 7-14 in the MAC Commonwealth, an improvement of four conference victories over the previous year for the second-year program.

GAME ONE: HOOD 8, LEBANON VALLEY 7

Trailing 7-5 going into the final inning, Cam Esposito (Columbia, N.J. / North Warren Regional) and Nathan Kessler (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) singled to lead off the top of the seventh. After a wild pitch, Gall hit a two run single to center field to tie the game. Chris Shriver (Frederick, Md. / Gov. Thomas Johnson) drove in the winning run with a fielder's choice later in the inning, scoring Paul Quattrone (Laurel, Md. / Reservoir), who pinch ran for Gall. 

Michael Hernandez (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield) struck out the final two hitters during a 1-2-3 seventh to pick up his fourth save of the year. 

Esposito and Gall had three hits each in the game. Kessler, Warrenfeltz and Friend all recorded two hits. 

Connor Henniges (Mount Airy, Md. / Linganore) picked up the win in relief. 

Hood trailed 1-0 in the second, but RBI singles by Friend and Esposito put the Blazers ahead 2-1.

An RBI double by Gall in the third gave Hood a two-run lead, but Marshall Kiessling had an RBI double and scored in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Kiessling capped a three-run fourth with a two-run triple that put the Dutchmen on top 6-3. 

After an error in the fifth helped Hood score a run, Friend hit a solo homer to left in the sixth to bring the Blazers within 6-5. LVC answered with a run in the sixth to stretch the lead back to two and set up Hood's comeback. 

Kiessling, Mike Puglisi and Marc Siebert all had three hits for the Dutchmen. 

Nathan Smith took the loss in relief. 

GAME TWO: HOOD 5, LEBANON VALLEY 2 (8 innings)

Hood scored four times in the top of the eighth to earn the sweep. 

Luscombe and Corey Sell locked in a pitcher's duel over the first seven innings. The pitchers had matching lines of one run allowed on five hits through seven innings. 

In the eighth, the Dutchmen turned to Jacob Williams on the mound and Hood found its swing against the reliever. Warrenfeltz singled with one out and scored on a double by Gall to make it 2-1. A two-out single by Shriver brought in Gall for a two-run lead. After a run-scoring single by Friend, a throwing error allowed Tyler Cook (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove) to score for a 5-1 advantage.

Lebanon Valley scored once in the bottom of the eighth, but Hood closed the door on the sweep.

Friend had three hits in the game, while Warrenfeltz doubled and had two hits.

Zach Smith and Colin Albright had two hits each for Lebanon Valley.
