Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College softball team gave its lone senior a great Senior Day gift, as the Blazers swept Lebanon Valley 6-3 and 7-5 to clinch the third seed in the upcoming Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament.

With the wins, the Blazers wrap up the regular season with a 19-15 record and 9-7 in the MAC Commonwealth. Hood will take on second-seeded Widener at noon on May 6 at Messiah.

Senior Ashley Fourcade (Rockville, Md. / Richard Montgomery) was honored before the games for her contributions during her four years at Hood.

Sophia Leaman (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) had a big doubleheader. The sophomore had three hits in the opener. In game two, she picked up a complete game victory and hit a three-run home run. Her blast was one of three home runs in the second game, as Roo Saglimbeni (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg) and Jasmine Webster (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) also homered.

GAME ONE: HOOD 6, LEBANON VALLEY 3

Leaman, Shelby Alcorn (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) and Kristen Scott (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) all had three-hit games as the Blazers recorded 16 hits in the victory.

Pitcher Kayli Paugh (Elkridge, Md. / Howard) drove in a pair of runs, doubled and threw a complete game for the win.

Hood wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first. Kaylee Krietz (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) led off the inning with a single. After the Dutchmen recorded the first out, the next four Blazers all singled for a 2-0 lead. Hood went ahead 3-0 on a bases loaded walk to Saglimbeni.

Back-to-back doubles to lead off the third by Alcorn and Paugh made it 4-0.

After Lebanon Valley scored in the fifth, Hood answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Paugh led off the inning with a walk and scored on a two-out, RBI single by Scott. An error extended the inning and Kristy Erfurdt (Thurmont, Md. / Catoctin) singled to drive in Scott.

Sammy Bost had three hits to lead Lebanon Valley. Haley Neff took the loss, allowing three runs in the first inning.

GAME TWO: HOOD 7, LEBANON VALLEY 5

Leaman also hurled a complete game for the win.

Three-run homers in the second inning by Saglimbeni and Leaman gave the Blazers a 6-2 lead.

Webster added a solo shot in the fourth for a five-run lead.

The Dutchmen chipped away in the top of the fifth with three runs, but Hood Leaman pitched out of the jam.
