Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - Hood College's KC Miller scored her first career goal, but Eastern Mennonite defended its home pitch with a 4-1 win.
Trailing 2-0, Miller fielded the carom off an Erin Scarborough shot and found the back of the net in the 69th minute to cut the Royals' lead in half. Eastern Mennonite put the match out of reach 12 minutes later, when Shaylla Oswald cleaned up her own rebound and made it 3-1.
Neither team scored in the first half, Laura Rittenhouse scored twice in less than two minutes to give the Royals the lead early in the second period. She scored her first goal in the 54th minute. Rittenhouse iced the match and completed the hat trick with a tally in the 89th minute.
Rachel Knoebel had five saves for Hood.
Leah Wenger and Emily Young split time in goal for Eastern Mennonite. Wenger made one save in the first half, while Young saw more action and stopped five shots in the second half.
The Blazers held the Royals without a corner kick on the evening.
Hood hosts Marymount (Va.) in the Blazers' annual Teal Game to raise awareness for ovarian cancer. Kickoff on Saturday, September 17 is set for 3 p.m.
