WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Hood College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 final in non-conference action at McDaniel.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 25-12. 

Payton Belella, Kari Betson and Elena Zinaich each had double-doubles for the Blazers. Belella had 21 assists and 11 digs. Betson and Zinaich had matching stat lines of 10 kills and 10 digs. 

Hood pulled with 8-6 in the first set after a bad set by the Green Terror, but McDaniel earned a sideout and forced three straight attack errors to build a 12-6 lead. In the second set, the Green Terror used a 13-4 run to pull away. 

The Blazers rallied in the third set. McDaniel appeared to be pulling away when a 5-0 run built an 11-7 lead. Hood responded with a rally that tied the score at 14-14 on a service ace by Allison Barrick. The Green Terror tied the score three more times, but with the teams knotted at 18-18, the Blazers forced attack errors on five consecutive points to force a fourth set. 

Patricia Davie led all players with 13 kills, while Lexi Corral added 11. Taylor Baughman had 19 digs. Maddie Moyer dished out 21 assists and Lauren Wells had 18. 

Hood hosts York (Pa.) and Rosemont in a tri-match on Saturday, September 17.
