Women's Soccer Falls in Teal Game

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's soccer team slumped to a 3-0 defeat against the Marymount Saints in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

After a four-game road trip, the Blazers returned home to host the Saints in their annual Teal Game, in support of ovarian cancer research and awareness. While numbers were not available at the time of this article's publication, the event typically raises upwards of $500-$750 for the noble cause.

Marymount senior Kirsten Campbell opened the scoring in the eighth minute when she corralled a parried save from Rachel Knoebel and smashed home the eventual match winner. Despite multiple opportunities for both sides, no one could find the back of the net until Saints freshman forward Karen Reyes caught fire over the final six minutes of the match. Reyes caught Hood on the counter again in the final minutes, slotting the ball past an outstretched Knoebel. Senior Chloe McAuliffe twice played the role of distributor and unlocked the Blazer back four with the assists.

Knoebel contributed nine saves in a losing effort and senior Jill Heymann led the Blazers in shots, including an effort that was cleared off the goal line early in the second half.

Hood, 2-4 on the season, looks to bounce back as they travel to Wesley College on September 21.
