Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A goal by Alyssa Nubgaard in the 23rd minute proved to be enough as the Hood College defense shut out Penn St. Harrisburg, 1-0.
The win was the first career victory for first-year head coach Conor Prachar. It also marked the first career shutout for goalkeeper Rachel Knoebel, who made nine saves.
The two teams traded opportunities in the early going, before the Blazers strung together two shots in under a minute. Elisa Botten's shot missed wide in the 22nd minute, but less than a minute later Nubgaard put one into the net for a 1-0 lead. It was the junior's first goal of the year and the 13th of her career.
Penn St. Harrisburg managed four more shots in the first half and six in the second, but the Hood defense held tough over the final 67 minutes to preserve the shutout.
It was the first blank sheet for the Blazers since a 1-0 win over Wesley on September 24 last season.
Hood, 1-1 on the season, travels to Shenandoah on September 6.
