Box Score FREDERICK, Md. – The Hood College Women's Soccer team endured on the defensive end against a robust No. 6 Messiah squad and fell 6-0 at Thomas Athletic Field on Tuesday night.
Inside the Box Score
Haley Gordon (Towson. Md./Loch Raven) had the lone shot for the Blazers.
Marlie DeRenzis (Scranton, Pa./North Pocono) put up six saves on the afternoon.
How it Happened
Although the Falcons maintained the majority of possession, the Blazers held up on the defensive end with
Shayleigh Boyle (Ocean City, Md./Stephen Decatur),

Ryley Backer (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) sabotaging Messiah possessions.
The opposition started to push the envelope, putting more shots up at goal but off the mark. It would take until almost halfway through the half for the Falcons to settle down and get to work on the Blazers.
A corner for the Falcons came in hot on a hop into the box and Messiah's Addi Martin sent it hot into goal to break the draw after 20-plus minutes. Just moments later, a broken defensive effort created a Brittany Hoffman a one-on-one opportunity upfield and chipped it past Hood's keeper DeRenzis for the 2-0 lead.
The third and fourth goals by the visitors came with 30 seconds of each other, the Falcons punched in another corner and stole a pass just after the ensuing kickoff to send the game out of reach.
