Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. - The Hood College field hockey team picked up its first win of the year with a convincing 7-0 victory on the road at Notre Dame (Md.).
Shelby Amspacher scored twice, added an assist and registered a defensive save on the Gators' only shot on cage. Rylie Benoit-Nobis and Jayden Barrick both had a goal and assist. ALonna Soward and Lili Wysiekierski each scored the first goal of their careers. Ashley Griffin scored Hood's other goal.
The Blazers outshot the Notre Dame 20-1 in the contest as Hailey Poisal picked up her first career shutout.
It marked the first shutout for Hood since blanking Bryn Mawr on the final day of the 2014 season. The seven goals were the most since the Blazers put up eight in a win over Cedar Crest almost exactly two years ago.
Barrick started the scoring off an assist from Naomi Garcia midway through the fifth minute. Less than 10 minutes later, Kate Sigman assisted as Benoit-Nobis hit the back of the cage for a 2-0 lead. Soward found paydirt in the 20th minute off an assist by Barrick. Amspacher assisted on Hood's fourth goal before scoring herself for a 5-0 lead at the half.
Wysiekierski scored her first career goal at exactly 55 minutes before Amspacher finished the scoring.
De'ja Martin made nine saves for the Gators. Erika Deppenschmidt had two defensive saves.
Hood hosts Keystone on Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
