CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Hood College's Kari Betson and Elena Zinaich both reached the 1,000-career kill mark in a tri-match at Washington College with Elizabethtown. The Blazers dropped both matches by 3-1 final scores.

• In addition to reaching 1,000 kills, Betson notched her 1,000th dig. For the day, she had 29 kills and 24 digs to go along with four blocks. She now has 1,009 career kills and 1,019 digs.
• Zinaich reached the milestone with 24 kills on the day and now has 1,020 for her career. She added five aces, all against the Shorewomen, and six blocks to her afternoon.
• Payton Belella had a total of 68 assists between the two matches.
• Renee Reus tallied 23 digs.

• Elizabethtown won 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-11.
• Washington won 25-21, 25-11, 21-25, 25-15.

How it Happened - Elizabethtown

• Hood trailed 20-19 in the first set before kills by Zinaich, Betson and Zinaich again put the Blazers ahead for good.
• Tailyn Kite gave Hood a 5-3 lead in the second set with a kill, but the Blue Jays scored the next five points and never trailed again to tie the match.
• A 7-2 run by Elizabethtown erased an 11-10 Blazer lead in the third set.
• The Blue Jays closed out set four and the match with a 19-5 run.
• Elle Shatto had 23 kills, while Gabby Anders tallied 43 assists.

How it Happened - Washington

• Hood trailed 10-2 in the first set, but rallied to tie the score at 21-21 on a kill by Zinaich. Washington used back-to-back aces to finish off the Blazers as part of a four-point surge to end the set.
• Down 2-0 in the match, Hood took a 12-8 lead in the third set on a kill by Courtney Hutchinson and held on to win 25-21.
• An ace by Zinaich in the fourth set pulled the Blazers within 19-15, but Washington scored the final six points for the win.
• Alaina Geissberger notched 11 kills for the Shorewomen.

Notes

• The losses snapped Hood's six-match win streak as the Blazers fell to 10-17.
