How it Happened

  • Hood jumped out to a fast start with a six-run outburst in the first inning. Paugh and Roo Saglimbeni had back-to-back RBI doubles to make it 3-0 and Alcorn followed with the Blazers' first home run of the season to make it 5-0. An error brought home another run to stretch the lead to six.
  • In the bottom of the inning, the Battling Bishops fought back with five runs. Kaitlyn Checkan started the scoring with a home run, but the big blow came from a bases loaded double by Tiffany Manning.
  • After NCWC tied the game in the second, a sacrifice fly by Paugh made it 7-6 after the top of the fourth.
  • Checkan went deep again in the bottom of the inning, with a two-run shot that made it 8-7 in favor of the Battling Bishops.
  • Alcorn singled in a run in the top of the sixth to knot things up at 8-8, but Lindsey Sharpe hit NCWC's third home run of the game for the winning run in the bottom of the frame.
